tend to shed an awful LOT of fur around Spring here in aussiebut they are wonderful natural hunting dogs, and excellent 'take me for a walk NOW!' dogs. Very good on feral porkers on our high alpine marshes and wet gullies!!!!
IME&O
* Norwegian and Danish Elk-Hounds, Huskies, Chow-chows, etc?
Typically they have a nice big ruff round shoulders and a lovely curled tail, and semi-webbed BIG paws. Natural guard dogs, and 'find and corner (then bark)' hunters, very calm with kids.
very loving and very centred dogs too, IMO&E.

Follow Ups:
...............My primary interest is a companion/protector dog for the kids. It is very safe around here but I still don’t like the kids going out of sight around the farm.I also think, as do the kids, they have the most wonderful face.
Thanks for the info mate.

meeting 3 or 4and yes they are quiet fetching, aren't they?
I'd recommend the Norwegian Elkhound - a spayed male, for size. get a vet to vet (the breeder and) the litter chose best of the ones for sale.
they do have some possible defects even the Mams
A mamalute is a far bigger dog!
