In case we are forced to make this decision, I just wanted to hear what some of you guys would replace your Sony with?My hope is we get this parts situation figured out, as I am very happy with the performance of my player...but in the end we might not have a choice!
Follow Ups:
It is a most amazing cd. SACD player,
Hi,I have never even considered selling my 777.
I am afraid that finding machine build like SCD-1 or 777 for that kind of money will be very hard.
Certainly, companies like Sony will not produce them anymore.
Instead, I am considering buying another one, preferably SCD-1.
777 can by find used in Europe for about 1500 € (eBay, also rarely..), but I have never seen SCD-1 on sale here. Looks to be mostly in USA..!!
What is the approximate going price for used SCD-1 in good condition in USA ?Regards, Davorin
P.S. If any of you guys are so afraid that will sell your SCD-1 cheap, I’ll take it..!!
I am very very happy with the sound of my original SCD-1 (never modified or upgraded) and at the moment I don't find on the market a product with the same wonderful sound.

And I bet one won't have access to many players that would need to be included to give the quality of what they have been use to. I daresay that owners of the SCD-1 and the Xa777ES would need to spend a pretty penny to duplicate the quality of those players. If there is a giant killer out there, I sure would like to know but I highly doubt it.
I already went for the Marantz SA-7S1. I'm hoping there are no headaches with it and no need for mods. It was expensive.
for digital I'm using a 500 Gig hardrive and Slim Devises Transporter and a Shindo Digital Stepup transformer.
And I unfortunately would have to say it would just be a dedicated CD player. I do have a number of SACD players besides my Sony XA777ES but I won't be spending that kind of money again on another hi-rez player. Those players will have to suffice for the 200 SACD recordings I have and maybe I'll look into modding one of those.I have about 3 times as many CDs and that number continues to grow as I've been finding lots of goodies I've missed throughout the years, mostly older recordings throughout the 50s and 60s that have been remastered. The sound quality? You'd be surprised!!!
