I have a good selection of previous years (over 800 SACD's) but, during the past year and a half, I mostly consentrated on vinyl.
What releases during the past year and a half are "must haves"...I enjoy Rock, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, some Country, and some Classical... which unless it is very exciting and exceptional, I rather not purchase classical without listening first.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Follow Ups:
Just got these and listened to them over the weekend.Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection re-issue
Nick Drake - A TreasuryIf the rest of the new early Elton John re-issues are as good as Tumbleweed, you can't go wrong.
The Nick Drake is a very well done compilation released in 2004. If you don't have it, get it.
If you are in the least interested in Depeche Mode, I would highly recommend the SACD releases of their back catalog. These are uniformly excellent and a shining example of high res remasters.
John Hiatt - Master of Disaster
Already have it, yes it is a great recording.
I agree with the John Hiatt recommendation. This is a DSD recording and shows what should be done with all current recordings.
Check out sa-cd.net and look into the Chesky's - the New York Sessions - with Hazeltine, McBride and Jones and there are a couple of new ones.
Recently picked up the Fred Hersch Personal Favorites SACD recording as it was available for a good price from a seller. I think you would enjoy this one if you don't already own it.
