With so many SACD's going out of print, perhaps it's time to pick up a few and keep them sealed. AKUS live is getting some attention - which other non-classical SACD's do you think warrant stashing away?
Follow Ups:
- US SACD of SRV's "Couldn't Stand the Weather"
- hybrid versions of SACDs from the Police and Peter Gabriel
- Aerosmith's "Rocks"
- ABKCO's SACDs of Sam Cooke
- "River of Sorrow" on First Impression Music (FIM)
- HK Warner Music SACDs (5 of which were remastered by Sony's Vic Anesini)
- MFSL SACD titles
- Peter Malick Group featuring Norah Jones - New York City
- samplers/demo SACDs

If there was a consensus of which OOP SACDs were going to become valuable, the price would already be up in anticipation. Thus, Blues in Orbit and Stevie Ray Vaughan are already selling for collector's prices.Which ones will sell for those prices in the future? This is a function of rarity and demand. Many SACDs were pressed in limited quantities. However, these are worth nothing unless people want to buy them. Maybe people will want the old Water Lily Acoustics SACDs. Or maybe they won't.
My own guess would be the big names, the rock groups that sell to people who are completists- Rolling Stones and Dylan are the big names, also maybe Police and Peter Gabriel, Elton John, etc. But I think there are far better investments out there than gambling on the potential appreciation of SACDs.
Often wondered about this. I know for sure that the Ellington Blues in Orbit title is commanding a pretty penny. Not really sure what else is in demand though that is currently OOP. I haven't been accumulating any titles for speculation.
of why sony and the rest of the industry should have gone to single inventory hybrid sacd/cd status. i would have been quite happy with a NON mofi reissue. the same goes for the patricia barber items and the like.
