Anybody heard one of these sound flat and bass-shy?Wondering what I can do to beef mine up.
Follow Ups:
If you have a stereo rig, be sure you're using the D.Mix 2-ch outputs. If it's a MCH rig, check to make sure your front speakers are not set to small in the setup.
Was using "front" outputs. Into my stereo amp.Now I will try the correct "D.Mix" (i wonder what that stands for?) outputs and see if it comes to life.
Thanks!
Now I will try the correct "D.Mix" (i wonder what that stands for?) outputs and see if it comes to life.Silly name, I know. It may come from what it does with MCH DVD-A when there is no stereo mix on the disc. In that case it takes the MCH and combines the channels into stereo. Of course, calling it "stereo out" would have been too complicated :-).
Hope this fixes it. If the MCH configuration has the front speakers set to small, then the signal to them is high-pass filtered at the subwoofer crossover frequency. That would explain the missing bass.
I have the Integra Research version of player and processor. Your experience does not mirror mine. Though I do have the multichannel analog input card on the processor, I use firewire instead. If you are selecting Pure Audio in receiver, you will bypass all processing, including I believe bass management.
Mine seems to pass on whatever bass is on the CD/DVD. Pink Floyd Mastersound Wish You Were Here can really rattle the walls and windows. The SP1000 in not bass shy, and is accurate as far as I can tell.
