In Reply to: Best SACD's of 2004? What are your thoughts? posted by Dead Head on January 1, 2005 at 06:26:06:
I just got RL Burnsides "First Recordings", a MFSL SACD, as a Christmas gift, and it is fabulous. Plenty of other outstanding SACD's in 04, and this is clearly one of them. Great music and the recording is "you are there" quality. I have a sneaky suspicion Chris Whitley is familiar with RL's early recordings also.
Follow Ups:
early mostly acoustic and raw, but for my money, the prime RL Burnside is on his lowdown dirty electric albums like The Wizard (my favorite) and Ass Pocket Full of Whiskey. No SACDs, but Fat Possum always seems to release easily available vinyl and these are really good.
what it is is one of the better SACD's released in 04, which is what the poster asked. What is the best, or ones favorite RL, is another topic altogether. Ass Pocket and Wizard are 2 of my favorites also, and Fat Possum is a great label.
Thank you 'mes' I am only interested in your favorite or series of SACD released in the year 2004. I don't know how or why some poeple dont get that. Create another string if they want to communicate or ask what they think some of their favorite or better SACD's peaple here may want to check out.
Went to the Fat Possum site, no Ass Pocket... where else do you order his LP's?
I've seen em on Amazon previously.
