I had problem of reading hybrid SACD in my heavily modded SCD-1
then went to the sled motor cleaning/lubrication per Richard Kern postage.
Due to my stupid work, a thin flexible flat cable coming from optical pick-up
was cut accidentally.Does any one know where/how to contact to purchase a transport assembly
or optical pick-up assembly?
The service manual lists the parts number:
8-820-005-02 OPTICAL PICK-UP KHS-180A/J1RP
Don't know the parts number for complete transport assembly. There is no warranty available and am afraid the Sony service center in Japan
won't sell the replacement parts, I'm just calling them though.
Any Sony e-mail address or website will be very much appreciate.

Thanks to whom responded, the parts have been picked up at the Sony Service Center
in Yokohama today.
They are so great as only took one day to receive them after order by telephone.I was told Sony doesn't sell the complete transport, it is not available.
I only needed the broken flexible cable but bought the optical pick-up assembly too.
It's worth to keep it as a spare part, total cost was about $90.Now it's the time to work again for cleaning/lubricating.
I have not read Kern's repair that you refer to; in fact, I can't udnerstand your post. If you got a new cable, adn lubed the sled would that do it? If that were true, I would bet there are a thousand player slaying aroudn with FINE cables, but bad sleds.
Here is the exact part you are looking for:Happy Holidays.Gary.
