Joy to the world!It was a long struggle dealing with Philips customer service, especially in the beginning, but today I received a full refund, $399.99.
I’m just posting this as encouragement to those still seeking restitution. Just stick with it. Be nice, but be persistent. Good luck!

Serious brand name. I received twice total refund for #2 SACD 1000, dead in different times (each one 999,00 Euro).
A friend of mine whom I sold my first SACD 1000 (kaputt after 6 months) last year had received 1.299,00 Euro thanks to the original receipt I gave him.I do think Philips demonstrates to be a very serious constructor.
Philips said the check is now in processing and expect it in 4-6 weeks. This is after a great deal of frustration, wasted time, and more blockage in my coronary arteries.Of course they lost my SACD1000 and have no idea where it is. So, we'll see if the check actually comes. At least I have a direct line to someone and won't have to wait up to 2 hours on hold for someone to answer. What a nightmare. I only hope Philips gets what they deserve: a lot of business going elsewhere.

Just think of the ways in which you may want to spend it. You might consider this time waiting as your opportunity to find something else that will charm your musical interest. Good luck!

Have purchased a Toshiba SD-4960 and I like the way it sounds. It invites me in. So, I’m going to try to do some of the mods that I’ve read about here and at audiocircle.But thanks for the suggestion. That might be just the ticket for someone else.
