Just bought a trio of Isotek's best. Two Titans, one for each amp and the Nova for source. The Titan's are magic. They are the only power conditioners I have ever tried which do not resrict dynamics. Lot's of manufacturers claim no "current" restrictions, but this is not the same as restrictions on dynamics which requires instantaneous response. The Nova I am not yet conviced about. It seems to work great with my Levinson transport (31.5) but my Levinson 32 pre and 30.6 DAC are not as happy. I have found that the power cord feeding a power conditioner has a very profound influence on sound so I will play with this to see if the incoming PC is the limiting factor. Siltech's best is IMO the best power cord (Ruby Mountain). The point of all this is, try the Isotek stuff it is really good, especially the Titans.
Follow Ups:
I do not find it to restrict dynamics, but I do use a small tube amp. I do find the audience to sound better than I did the Isotek, though they were great. The new single units from audience are also incriedibly convinent.
What amps are you using that you need 2 of them? I`ve got my Titan supplying both my Parasound JC1s and the Titan multi-link supplying Levinson 390S and 320S along with TV/Video.As the 32 regenerates the power, I`d have thought it was impervious to any crap on the line.
Power corrupts as they say,
I am using one Titan on each of my Tenor 300 tube/solid state Hybrids - 300 watts into 8 ohms. A lovely marriage this.
hi Bud,1. how do they compare to the Sound Applications you had been useing?
2. have you installed the Oyaide R1 Beryllium duplex outlets and WPC-Z outlet covers? talk about dynamics.....WOW! to properly judge the Isotek units.......
3. 3 weeks ago i had both the Titan and Nova in my system. with the new Oyaide R1 Beryllium duplex outlets my Jena Labs power cords with in-line conditioners were at least as good as either Isotek (i slightly preferred the Jenas). 2 weeks prior to that the Isotek units were slighly better than the Jenas before the Oyaide R1 Beryllium outlets were installed......which led me to believe that the mass grounding of the Isotek units was a good bit of their performance.
best,
Hi Mikel,
I have not yet installed the Oyaides but they are on my "to do" list. The Sound Applications is a great line conditioner IMO. But requires a top notch power cord running to it from the wall I use a Siltech). At the moment I am using the Nova for my Transport (works great for this) and odds and ends (turntable, tuner etc.) and the SA for my DAC and Pre-amp. The system is breathtakingly quiet. I have a feeling that there is something that the Levinson pre-amp and DAC do not "like" about the Nova. If so, I suspect it is the interaction of the Levinson power regeneration units with the Nova. Hard to figure why though.
"2. have you installed the Oyaide R1 Beryllium duplex outlets and WPC-Z outlet covers? talk about dynamics.....WOW! to properly judge the Isotek units......."U hit it on the head right there buddy, the Oyaide R1 in combination with a WPC-Z outlet base/CF cover will certainly open most skeptics eyes to the detriment a contractor grade outlet mounted in the typical drywall installation does to ones system.
For those that R interested, do a search over in the Tweak or Cable Asylum for all things Oyaide.
Cheers,
