You have a Power Wing with Oyaide outlets, which are supposed to be higher-rez than the Hubbells. We are jealous and envious of you!Ours have the Hubbell 8300s. I have one with Oyaide XXXes on order. But anyway, the PW 8300 is a valuable tool for me and my colleagues. I just feel that with the PW 8300, I can more easily hear what the powercords and gear are doing. Other powerline conditioners seem to twist and mold the sound here, there, and everywhere.
Indeed, the PW 8300 has been critical in helping us evaluate the Cary CD 303/300 and the myriad tubes we've rolled in it. With the PW 8300, the differences between tubes are unambiguous.
We also appreciate that the PW 8300, regardless of where we've taken it, performs consistently. It shows no bias to the $100 gear we've thrown at it, or the $10,000 gear we've lashed up. Unlike some other PLCs, the PW does not make noise or give off heat.
But, there's the subject of getting a Wing in another Corian color. Let's spare Alan, and not open that can of worms :-)

Yes, Lummy....let's please spare Alan. I'm sick with the post-CES flu. As of last Thursday, I thought I was safe....not. But I can't inhale Corian dust in this condition. :--)

Corian dust (especially of the Everest variety), the smoke in Vegas hotels, yeah right :-)BTW, the Power Wings appear in many CES/THE show reports. Only the Finite Elemente racks appear more frequently. With so many Wings at the shows, no wonder you gotta make a new batch. Your poor Cable Cooker must be working overtime.

I was most fortunate having such great coverage....so many manufacturers get overlooked unintentionally (these shows can be a madhouse), and some reviewers & writers only report what specifically interests them. And most reviewers and writers wholly ignore what they consider "accessories"....and that includes cabling and line conditioning. The PFO crew are certainly the exception, and I thank them profusely. Too many cable manufacturers (unless the room is sponsored by a particular cable company), never even get a mention. So again, I was most fortunate.
I heard an anecdote via Joe Cohen of PranaWire, describing his conversation with Jonathan Halpern of Tone Imports (the very fine Shindo, Auditorium, etc.). Jonathan had some reviewers in his room at the St. Tropez this year, and all they could comment on were the speakers (the terrific DeVore Super 8's). He told Joe after this incident that he wished he had briefly disconnected some cabling, then asked the reviewers "how do you like the system now?"
> > Too many cable manufacturers (unless the room is sponsored by a particular cable company), never even get a mention. So true ... After reading about my favorite room at RMAF, Joe sent me a
gently Email pointing out that the cables in this room were compliments
of Prana Wire. Since he's had a hand in a number of excellent sounding
exhibits over the years, I was happy to give him his due. "Cable guys
never get no satisfaction. So here's a cheers to Joe and his mighty prana."

Joe has been an equal participant in all the award-winning and show-winning rooms with DeHavilland for the past 3 years. Their rooms have consistently had great sound at CES, Stereophile, and Rocky Mountain. Unfortunately, too many writers and reviewers end up referring to the room as "the DeHavilland room", and have disregarded one of the principal ingredients for the great sound....the hand-fabricated cabling. Without it, there would be NO sound, and little to judge other than visual aesthetics.Joe now asks each reviewer to carefully list each of the participants, and all the componentry, including the specific cabling used....it's only fair. When Joe and I shared our room with Terry Cain and Josh Stippich (at CES 2003), it was understandable that people went completely ga-ga over Josh's amps. They are the bomb. But again, even though I provided a detailed list for visitors of each and every component (including 2 Power Wings) and each run of cabling, Joe and I were pretty much ignored in the overall reporting (and our products were in Terry's main room as well). There were two exceptions....Dave Clark and Greg Weaver....and we are still appreciative for their kind words.
