Hey gang,
Having a BIG problem with this Philips.Last night I loaded 3 discs into the drawer, closed it & watched the display say "reading" for about 10 mins.Tried to open it,but it wouldn't.Not only that,I get the "initializing" display with no cdr in the burner drawer. That won't open either but by pumping the power switch, the cd drawer open ed long enough to grab 2 of the cds.Push cd change & the display lights up accordingly but nothing really happens. Is this worth fixing or should I junk the Philips? It's almost 5 years old.A while the burner went nuts but worked ok afterwards.Any advice wouldbe greatly appreciated.thks-Bob

My CDR-795 crapped after about 15-months so I guess you're lucky. Goes through all the motions but without any result.Anyway - try unplugging the unit for a minute or two. This may restore the default memory settings and cure your problem.

Tried disconnection, actually just shutting off the power strip. For 1 minute,no,2 minutes no,45 minutes, nada.Take it get fixed or junk it,what should I do?
in our Guest room just in case. Plays back - that's it! Laser repair generally costs more than they are worth. As for Philips "quality", do a search at Hi-Rez for SACD-1000.
