I owned one of these for over 10 years.Never gave me a moment of trouble.
Solidly built too. I liked the Disc Memo feature that let you name the disc.
Follow Ups:
That fact that this thing is still working is a testament to its reliability. The only thing that I can find wrong is that the trey is a little sticky. Any tips on the disk memo feature? I don't have a manual. Sony still stocks the remote and sells it for $60.00.
Re Dsic Memo.you hit a specific sequence of keys, nothing complicated, to get into the program mode. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly how. If I saw the remote it might jog my memory
You had to enter each character one by one by scanning through the alphabet until you arrived at the correct letter.
There was a limit to the memory, approx. 200 total discs I think.
You can also program custom index points. I found this handy with those few CD's (like Prince's Lovesexy) that play as one continuous track. It remembered the Disc Memo settings by looking at the number of tracks and total disc length.
