Here is one I know people hate to answer but here goes. I'm looking for a very high quality CD player for my system. I'm currently using McIntosh amp (MC206) and pre amp (MX119)with the new B&W 803D's. My decision on this stuff had a lot to do with the fact that this was the only dealer in town (Atlanta) that I could find with a great upgrade policy (they give 100% credit for any upgrade made within one year of purchase). Now I'm looking to upgrade my source component. I'm open to just about anything. I would say that it would need to come from somewhat of a mainstream audio company simply because I haven't found too many dealers in Atlanta suprisingly that carry many of the more esoteric brands. My main requirements are awesome soundstaging and detail without being overly bright or fatiguing. I'd like suggestions in the under $2,500 range as well as $2,500 to $5,000. It might also be nice if it was a SACD player as well or even a universal player but a reference type CD player is the first priority. Let me know your ideas. Thanks.

Very analog sounding. No digital glare. Great imaging and soundstage. Exceptional resolution. Very involving.

Ought to check out Jolida 100A over at Underwood HiFi in ATL. Believe he sells stock unit for mid $700s (much lower than other Jolida dealers). And does several mods on the unit that still come under your price. The stock unit as is, is quite a bargain if you are not familiar with it. Moded...?And no, I am not associated with Jolida or Underwood. :)
Because you will immediately have to upgrade your amplification, cables and speakers to do justice to your new source. So, seek a system with balance unless you are climbing aboard the upgrade train soon.
Some suggestions that are $2500 or less:
Audio Aero Prima
New Arcam.....33 or something?
Naim CD5
Cary 308T
Ayre CDx7....?
