the DV45A and the DV47AI have a very clinical and typically digital sound. The DV59AI is worth a listen though.

How did you audition these, in your system? My Pioneer DV 47 Ai is quite clinical esp. vs. analog, but it's good enough to detect differences in variuous CD's and DVD sources easily and overall, the 2 channel sound is not perfect but OK.I am interested in upgrading. What would be an entry level CDP that you suggest under $400? I have been researching DAC's, the low cost modded units, and fixing the player (Reference Audio Mods is the only one who will do it other than Empirical for a lot more).
I found the 45A and 47Ai to be unremarkable value as CD spinners.
Denon's DVD2910 is decent, as is the DVD2900 if you can find one. I still like the modded 3950/60 DVDs from Toshiba.
I have the Elite 45A and have been using it for CDs as well as DVDs. I am ready to upgade. I plan to keep the 45A for Dvd, and get a new CDP. Are you saying the 45A does not make a good transport? I am considering a DAC such as Mf, Bel Canto, or Benchmark to use with the 45A. Alternatively, I would consider buying a single box CDP like a Jolida. What do you think?
Yes...I agree....didnt have the number when I posted...
