The CD player is reading the disc and creating a memory buffer so when you start play, it has already loaded some data. This processes reduces data errors and jitter. Well worth the wait in my ever so humble opinion.

True. The new 303/300 takes just a bit longer than others but it is well worth it for the reduced jitter.If you want a player that takes forever, try some of the Sony SACD machines.
Hi Abe,Seems the 306 will have Sony's SCD-1's mechanism...if that's the case, then loading times maybe be another PIA..:)
