I'd have to call my post an result of past experiences, not a cause for hostility. Had you attended but one event Tom, you would concur with my assessment.P.S. Since we saw most of what we needed to see on Friday, the talkers were kept to a minimum.

The tone of your post still sucked in my blunt opinion--has nothing to do with "assessment" of situations.

My post may have sucked to you. But to me, your blunt opinion does.Let me ask you this. In a non smoking restaraunt, a guy who could care less about anybody but himself lights up a big ol fat stogie. Everybody is upset as they are eating their dinners. People are caughing, sneezing... Even the manager is afraid to say something because stogie guy is pretty big and looks mean. Finally I get the nerve to say, "Hey pal, can you please put it out?"
Let me get this right. To you, I am the a-hole for speaking up?
So you don't get your panties in a wad, this was just being used as an example. I am not at all for a smoking ban, as I believe that it should be solely up to the restaurant owner. If diners do not want smoking, they can choose to go elsewhere. Or as seems to be the usual case, a smoking area, complete with proper ventalation can be provided.

Your analysis and post was well put IMO.These events are social events, - but the "social" part should be reserved for the lobbies, record/CD buying rooms, the bars, or elevators, - anywhere except the listening room.
One wise manufacturer at CES would pause the music if people began speaking during the listening sessions; a good idea.

...a christopher guest movie, like 'best of show'. a tragically funny end to a once great hobby.

Can you imagine?"Best in Show" or "A Mighty Wind," - docu-comedy by Chitopher Guest about Audiophiles at a HES type show?
That would so rock!! John Goodman to play Big Andy?

Great idea! Chris Guest's work on Spinal Tap also proves his bona fides for this job. Particularly enjoyed the title of Spinal Tap's second album: "Break Like the Wind."
