My stepson who is a struggling student recently bought a very inexpensive single wire copper speaker cable from Nordoest. It might not even be sold in the US. The mid-range is terribly vieled, but the rest is nice. Any suggestions for replacement. He is paying around $30/m.
Follow Ups:
I think, their pricing and quality is outstanding
For some ultra-cheap but very nice sounding cable (especially the mids) I recommend Belkin PureAv bulk pcocc speaker cable. See the link for more info.

Inexpensive but excellent cables are Anti-Cables. They are as good as the high priced spread at a rediculously cheap price.
I know some people really love these cables, but when i heard them they sounded just like my stepson's cables: great bass and trebble, but the mid-range had/has a blanket over it. This is a personal thing in the sense that many people will not consider them veiled. My ears have always been well served by good copper litz.
Try any of the AudioQuest new line. If you can wait, try AudioQuest Indigo+ on ebay which I own.Word of advice, DIY cables are just that unless you get the chance to listen to them without having to buy them first. You get what you pay for.
These are Nordoest cables he got. He didn't consult me. The speakers are DIY, not the cables.
What make/model loudspeakers? Do they feature bi-wire posts? What length is needed? What type of connectors, if any?
Hand-me-down 3-way DIY (Esotar + Scanspeak) danish made speakers 10M no biwire spades or bullets.Don't make this hard. I think almost any litz copper design would work and the Audioquest 2 or 4 look fine.
Audioquest Type 4 or CV4.
