IME, replacing a typical captive power cord's molded AC plug with a Furutech FI-11 series AC plug (or just about any Audio grade AC plug) is a worthy thing to do, since it will provide a substantial improvement in performance. However, an audiophile quality power cord upgrade (that includes an Audio Grade AC plug) is often a sonically superior option if the new cable can be hardwired in a secure and safe manner. If one is interested in future upgrades and/or various detachable power cord auditions, the versitile and often prefered method is to remove the stock power cord and install an IEC inlet, or install an inline IEC jack placed a few inches from the captive power cord's chassis entry point. Be sure to follow safety precautions in any case...

Thanks, Duster.Currently , I have Signalcable Magic power cord and XLO ref2 type 10A. They both have hubble and marinco plugs which i don't think they can beat furutech FI-11 series. That's why i like to upgrade the connector/plug to Furutech as i already have Furutech wall outlet installed and VH audio flavor 4 for my amp.
If replacing the cord needed, which brand do you think it will work best for the following :
1> from the wall outlet to the PS audio UO (conditioner)
and
2> from CD player to PS audio UO.
I see many brands on the market... and it's hard to choose one without auditioning it.
The Furutech FI-11(Cu) AC plug + Furutech FI-11(Ag) IEC connector combo is a safe bet since they perform well for all applications, IME (not power cord/component/system dependant). You might consider replacing the UO's stock Power Port AC outlet with yet another Furutech AC outlet since I (and other inmates) found the nickel plated Power Port to sound sub par (IMHO).I know that the Furutech FI-11(Cu)/FI-11(Ag) combo does very well on the XLO Reference 2 Type 10A (much better than the stock Hubbell/Schurter) and is a fine sounding power cord for use with digital gear (My DAC's XLO Reference 2 Type 10A was re-terminated with Oyaide 046 AC connectors which takes the power cord's performance level up another notch). The Signalcable Magic re-terminated with a Furutech FI-11(Cu)/FI-11(Ag) combo should do well to connect your UO to the wall's AC outlet.
Thanks. What do you think of DH labs power plus cable? I have a second thought of replacing Signalcable by DH lab power plus for PS UO to the wall outlet.
To connect your PLC to the wall, I think it would be a lateral move to replace your SignalCable power cord with a DH Labs Power Plus. As compared to the DIY VH Audio Flavor 2 power cords that I now use to connect my power line conditioners, the DIY DH Labs Power Plus presented with a somewhat tipped up treble and upper bass emphasis, notably less midrange presence, and the Flavor 2 offers a lowered noise floor (to my ear). YMMV
Great info . thanks.Flavor 2 is only 12 gauge , i believe. Should 10 gauge is better for drawing high current to the PLC? I agree that with vh audio design (twisted cable with outside ground), the noise floor is improved. I have flavor 4 now connect from my integrate amp to PLC.
To your experience, Flavor 2 is much better than DH lab power plus in term of sound balance? Just curious why you didn't go with flavor 4 from the wall outlet to the plc?
