What are the Silver Streak and KCAG characteristics and differences?
Follow Ups:
Best bang for the buck = Kimber HERO series. The Silver Streak can be a little bright depending on the system. The HERO is warmer and a better fit IMHO for solid state applications.
I used Silver Streak but never liked it . It was on the revealing, bright side for my tastes in an all SS system. Perhaps more applicable to an all tube setup. Never used the KCAG .
I have the old version with Kimber Ultra Plate rca plugs.
I find it too bright as well. Do not like it.
Nevertheless I wonder if the new version sporting WBT rca plugs is better or not.
I could try different RCAs if there were any improvement in sound.
Please excuse me for jumping in.
Kind regards,
ibiffo, I compared the Kimber Silver Sreak to the Kimber Select KS1111 balanced. I went with the Select for the same reasons posted by "lancelot". The second upgraded IC's I have added to my system are the Audio Horizons Transparency IC with RCA plugs. I was impressed how close they sounded to the Kimber Selects, ~90% of the sound at .4 times the cost. I wouldn't part with either.
