Why don't you try power outlets like HPM como range.
No on off switch to make you worry about contacts and you mix & match. If you look at the isotek site they will tell you to plug into unswitched outlets. Makes sense.
Actually I have just bought some and am intending to get them gold plated and use them as part of a project to modify a Niles switching unit to operate on Australian sockets. They look easy to gold plate but even used straight would be an improvement over the normal switched power outlets. The US ones in the picture are also unswitched but look a bit more complex than the como outlets.
By the way I would suggest that you have a dedicated line feeding them.
Best Regards

Yes Bruce, I've got the dedicated line for the audio system.
I don't think it's nearly as simple as applying a bit of gold plating - in fact many people don't care for the 'sound' that gold plating imparts to power connectors (haven't compared myself). Even if you do the later, you're still left with the crappy quality of most Australia spec male plugs (though Furutech do make a quality version).
The Furutech receptacles were designed for audio use, you get:
- vastly better contact pressure/area between the incoming mains wiring and the receptacle (compared to Clipsal).
- vastly better contact pressure between the receptacle and the male plug (compared to clipsal)
- 0.8mm phosphor bronze base metal used for terminals, copper plated
- superior dielectric materials used for receptacle housing
- factory cryo and demag treatmentHaving heard the difference (to Clipsal), there is no going back for me. The increased tonal richness, soundstage transparency and lack of strain during musical peaks is revelatory.
System Details
Hi Paul
Thanks for pointing out that Furutech Australian male connectors are available - even a gold plated version of those flimsy grey plastic connectors are still just as flimsy and insubstantial!
I can see that you are using power blocks with US connectors - I was thinking of going the same way but with UK ones to get away from the insubstantial Australian ones.
However when it comes to wall connectors I am thinking in terms of gold plated unswitched HPM Como outlets.
I am currently using a gold plated clipsal wall outlet and could certainly hear the difference with the gold plated outlet as I could when I went across to a dedicated line.
All part of the on going process of system upgrades!
Here's the link on the Furutech site .
It uses the same high contact area terminations as the other Furutech power connectors.
But here's the thing - I was already using one of these on my Hotbox into the Clipsal wallplate, it's simply no substitute for a quality receptacle.
The FP-15cu/FI-15cu is in another class.
I suspect you could spend 1000's of $'s on electronics trying to achieve the same improvements (as mentioned in above post etc).
