Try the Purist Dominus C Ferox version.
Follow Ups:
I had a dealer over this weekend with all the top of the line Purist AC cords and there is a BIG difference between the new Purist 20th Anniversary AC cord and the Dominus Ferox or Dominus Fluid AC cables. Clearly the 20th Anniversary is cleaner, has a lower noise floor, has more weight throughout the entire frequency spectrum, and just sounds better! The Dominus Ferox sounded over-damped, the Dominus Fluid is warmer but does not have the weight and not as clean sounding. These all based on pre-amps and amp locations. (previous AC cords were Elrod Signature 2's). The Dominus actually slowed the pace of the music on my Droplet CDP. What did work wonders on the CDP was an Aqueous Anniversary AC cord. This bested, by a large margin, my Omega Micro battery AC cord.
Just thought I'd give my impressions, I was hoping I'd be able to use the Dominus cables, based on their lower price but.............
I thought you were talking about the Aqueous power cord.It is sometimes reffered to also as the Anniversary cable.
I am using a APL 3910 CD player and my present power cord, the Ferox Dominous Rev C excells on that unit. This is not the earlier Dominus Ferox version but the Rev C, the latest version,it appears as though you did not try that version.I have never tried the actual Anniversary power cord,I have heard very good things about it though. Retails for about $2500 I think. So, the Anniversary will probably be my next investment.
Thanks for the info.
Both of the Dominus (Fluid and Ferox) were version C cords. When placed on the CDP it had good weight (the Ferox version) but slowed the pace of the music down and masked some inner detail, it also was not as open. When we used the Dominus Fluid on the CDP it was warmer but the frequency seemed "tilted" up in the spectrum and not as controlled in the low end. The Aqueous Anniversary cord was the best on the CDP, we did not try the Purist Anniversary on the CDP, only used that cord on the amp and pre-amp. Was afraid if we tried it also on the CDP I'd have to buy 3 of the Purist Anniversary cords!
Hope this clears things up.
how compare.
