Bas,
Is this a new model or just an experiment?
The pic shows the "top of the diy- line" Atlas, the big brother of Prometheus in Peters woodshop (he handbuilts all cabinets for me in Europe). Same widebands like Prometheus(but doubled), Gemini- tweeter and one 15"- woofer per side. Atlas are made for medium- sized rooms up and need more space around the baffles like Prometheus, then they sound much better: More authority in the bass- range, more natural and relaxed sound at high levels and a unique, big imaging. In smaller- and mid- sized rooms with not so much space around the baffles Prometheus sound better. The last gap in the diy- line is filled!
Atlas will be available in a few weeks, please check this forum and my website end of september to mid of october for more details and pricing. One word regarding the diy- theme:
The Bastanis diy- kit- designs are unique, they are made for customers who are looking for the last speaker of their life, this is not a common aim when talking about classical diy, this is a new perspective. Also there are assembeled kit- speakers at a higher price, these can be ordered handbuilt custom- made in massive hardwood- outfits. This possibility is not diy anymore, but it offers the possibility to get real satisfying speakers in your individual design with best possible woodwork in a price- range which is fair and acceptable for most customers with a long hifi- history looking for the end of endless buy and sell.Regards

Robert,How much space around the baffles and what size room would you suggest?
Hi Kevin, the minimum size of the room for successful Atlas- placement depends on it`s acoustical qualities.I suggest that a non- problematic room allows the Atlas baffle- placement from about 25mē up when there is a minimum- space of 1m to the sidewalls. The bigger the room the better, Atlas- baffles need some space to "breath".
