Hi ZUheyr,Congratulations for your phono kit..
I have planned to build the signature phonoboard in the next weeks, since I already have the AN ARM II with AN-V wiring.Regards
Hello Jan-Claude,Thank you. I cannot tell how much a difference will there be with the hardwired board but that board is great fun to do.
Yesterday, I tortured the kit for almost 12 hours straight and it
only got better. There is absolutely no hum (I have 94dB fullrange speakers), dark ink black background. With your MC you should hear even less. I was using a Tube Audio pre+phono with phono 6922 Telefunkens etc, the kit directly hooked to my Kit1 sounded miles better right away.Just a humble suggestion, I used double heatshrinks as the wires are sometimes too short and too close, when you solder it is difficult to judge the behavior of the heatshrink.
Good luck and enjoy the board,
Regards, Zuheyr

Zuheyr,Thanks for your recommendation : I already had some troubles with AN-V wires when soldering the KIT ONE.
I do not know which ECC82/ 83 you have received with the phono KIt , but I would suggest JJ Tesla which are IMO far better than the SOVTEK or Electro Harmonix.
I also upgraded the M2 power supply with some black gates and JJ capacitors.Regards
Dear Jean-Claude,Thank you. You will not have any soldering problems with the phono board, just do not cut the silver wire short, otherwise you will burn your hands. That thick silver wire is a beauty to use.
I have received GE tubes for the ECC82 and 83.
I had some good ones from my AN OTO SE amp, a Mullard CV491 (?)
for ECC82 and 2 Telefunken ECC83. They were already burnt-in and dead silent. I have a JJ Tesla 82 though on the DAC 1.1.I upgraded from scratch to the tantalum (1W only) on the M2 but
the WKz's were just too expensive. I am planning to do a gradual upgrade to BG's. Luckily there are only 2 electrolytics that sit on the phono board and the easiest piece to change, if the holes ar ebig enough. I do not know.Do they fit in well? I understand some fellow inmates were having troubles to fit fat BG's?
Hi
You can try Panasonic TSHA TSHB series instead of BG's.Great sounding caps and easy to fit . Some consider them equal to BG's for a fraction of cost and size.(They don't have that sexy BG's look though ;0). Regards. L

Hiwhere could you find these caps ?
Jean
Digikey has them in USA .I'm sure they are also available in EU.

Currently, I do not have access to my gear since my apartment is being painted.I will tell you next week which capacitor I already changed.
If you have some TELEFUNKEN ECC83 just keep them.Regards
