Yes we need to include them, and I can think of a few more. Joe Willian's predecessor in the Basie Band, Jimmy Rushing (Mister 5X5), Johnie Hartman (check out the album he did with Coltrane), Fats Waller, and of coarse arguably the greatist figure in this musical art we love, Louis Armstrong.

I am likely forgetting some.
