I've had my SP16 for 4 years and like it a lot. If you haven't tried NOS tubes in both sections you should give that a try. In my experience good 5751's in the line stage and Amperex 12ax7's in phono take everything to another level.
That said I've just finished my slate lenco and am wondering what improvements a better phono stage might bring. I have been looking for a while and the P75MkII is a nice piece at its price but IMHO no match for the SP16 even with stock tubes.
If you are looking to significantly upgrade I think you need to look at the Rogue Ares or Manley Chinook or something in that range.
