RE: Will this stylus fit my AT-12Sa cartridge?

Posted by rindolini on August 21, 2012 at 02:46:20:

Have a link? Because a pic would be nice - in order to check, whether it's an AT-made original or a 3rd party generic. But in general: Yup, the genuine JVC replacement needle would actually be AT-made and good quality. However, I'm not quite sure about the exact configuration of the JVC variant - 'cause the original ATN12S is always bonded, while there are both bonded and nude exemplars of the ATS12S, which would fit just as well on the AT12Sa body and usually is similarly priced. Cantilever is tapered alu in all three cases, btw.

So, if you can get the JVC needle for less than the ATN12S and ATS12S, it would seem an attractive deal. However, if the JVC wouldn't be at least a good bit cheaper than the ATS12S, the latter might be worth a gamble: If you're lucky, you might get an exemplar with square shank nudie, which practically would be pretty much as good as the ATN14 for the AT14Sa.

Greetings from Munich!
