Cryo'ed NOS Voskhod 6N23P/6H23n Tubes Sound Even Better!

Posted by thetubeguy1954 on July 19, 2010 at 13:36:35:

I've been using the 6N23P, or 6H23n as it's marked and refered to by many people, since last decemeber. In decemeber purchased a new tubed Goldenote Stibbert CD player to replace my 6 year old solid state Stibbert CD player and told my friends in Central Florida Audio Society, SETriodes Group and Space Coast Audio Society that I was looking for the "BEST" sounding tube in the Cca/7308/6922/6DJ8 genre of tubes.

I was given just about every tube in the family you could think of and I was given "carte blanche" to keep any one pair I wanted of these $100-$600pr tubes that I wanted! So I tried Siemens 7308, Siemens "gold-pin" 6922, Mullard E188CC, Amperex 1950's D-getter Bugle Boys, Amperex Orange and Green Globe, Amperex White Label etc. Then I finally tried a pair of $25pr Voskhod 6H23n tubes and they blew me away! These cheap tubes were so much more balanced sounding and from top to bottom were a much better tube sonically!

I know one person who told me when he compared a pair of NOS 6H23 tubes against the Telefunken Cca's he was using in his preamp, the unbroken-in Voskhod 6H23 provided 80% of the performance of his $600pr Telefunken Cca tubes! Later after the 6H23 tubes were broken-in he said "If I had known how good these tubes sounded when I was looking for 6922 variants, I might not have purchased my Telefunken CCa's.

To make a long story short I liked these tubes so much I purchased 110 pairs of cryogenically treated NOS Voskhod "rocket logo" tubes. If you'd to you can contact me via Audio Asylum's email or at thetubeguy1954(at)yahoo(dot)com and I'll be happy to tell you more!
