RE: 17v adapter for thorens 321

Posted by Lee of Omaha on August 28, 2011 at 08:52:30:

A client brought in a nice Thorens TD320. It has a Recoton 16V DC supply. The plug fits loosely but well enough. The turntable runs fine on this supply even though it is (1) clearly not original and (2) DC rather than AC.

I'd like to find a 16V wall wart for this turntable, but so far no luck. The good news for you is that yours will probably work on DC. I suspect that internally the turntable has its own power supply, so supplying it with DC is redundant rather than harmful.

If that's true, then almost any laptop power supply will work, as they usually supply 18-20 volts DC, and the current capabilities will greatly exceed the needs of the turntable.
