for the PC 3.1II

The PC3.1II is rather large for a monitor speaker. It is 22"H x 8 1/4W x 113/4 deep and comes in at a stout 40lbs rach. The cabinetwork is respectable but certainly not exotic. It has dual 6.5 flat piston woofers, 1" "adjustable" soft dome midrange, and 1" soft dome tweeter. This speaker has the ability to rotate the center portion that contains the Mid and tweeter so it can be used ad a center speaker in a surround system. The midrange is adjustable in direction to help fine-tune its direction. Sensitivity is rated at 92db into 6 ohms. So they will work is most Tube amps. The speakers have aprox. 120 hours of break in. out ofthe box the speakers had somewhat of a hard sound with basetht was somewhat reserved. As time went on the speakers really cameinto their own. For a monitor type speaker it produces very strong bottom end that leans toward the boomy side, but is certainly within the range of actability for a speaker in its price range. As far as the mid and highs, I can not say enough. This speaker does have a unipue tonal quality that may not be for everyone. It is a very laid back and warm speaker. Suited to most types of music (they strugled with some classical pieces)both good and bad recordings (note, they do not make a bad recording sound good they just keep it from hurting your ears. As with any speaker you need to listen to them in your home. When I listened to them in the store in an A/B comparison they did not fair well. But in an A/Bc comparison in my home the other speakers didnot compare. The sound was completely different. One of the strong points of this speaker is the sound stage. The speaker is not picky on location and has the ability to fill a roomwith sound, detail and surprisingly accurate location of instruments. I did not hear any compression of sound unlike many mid priced monitor speakers. it is not often that you find a 3-way monitor speaker especially in this price range. In conclusion if you are looking for a speaker that you can listen to for hours with out fatigue and not sacrifice detail I would suggest you give them a listen. Maybe one of the most under marketed and under rated speakers that I have listened to.

Product Weakness: Bottom end is not tight, Speaker is tall and reuires a strong stand
Product Strengths: Excellent MId range, Full sound stage, Price
