I have owned a pair of Studio 20's for 14 months. They are paired with a subwoofer so they don't have to strain to get the bass and they can play loudly down to the crossover. I was impressed with their sound at the dealer's listening room, and at my son's home, but in my living rtoom I had to break them in for several weeks to smooth them out. The mids are very rich and clear. Highs are crisp and airy depending on the recording. They don't go hard when played loudly. In my setup their best feature is the ability to project a soundstage with depth, breadth and height. The sweet spot in my setup is only 1 person or 2 if closely positioned. I position them 3 ft from front and side walls, and about 7 ft apart, toed in to the sweet spot about 7 feet away in a room that is 19 ft long by 13 ft wide. Performers float in the room with intimacy. I think they are their best on female voices, but my favorite album is the Swedish Jazz Kings (OPUS 3 cd19404). I cross them over at 65 hz at 24 db/octave. The particulars of the subs and crossover are discussed below im my review of the VMPS Large sub.
