I was looking or rather listening for a way to improve my sound. I carfully listened to many speakers ranging from electostats with high current amps, to 6.5" 2 ways. I came across the studio 100's at a local store and listened to them first bi-amped with a 35 watt Arcam intergrated amp on the tweeter and a Alpha 10P on the lower half. I was not too impressed and proceded to listen to the studio 80's and 60's. The next week I came back and the Studio 100's were hooked up to a MC122, much better match. I popped in a cd and was knocked back, were these the same speakers as last week when I was here? These speakers are power hungery, don't attemtp to drive these bad boys with less than 70 watts, they want the juice. Now on to the sound. The midrange is very transparent and makes a seamless transition into the higher midrange, an area where some of the referance tunes I used hang out. the bass is controled to the point of knocking you out of your chair. Tunned at 20Hz so a sub is just an after thought with these speakers. The highs are smooth and clear. These speakers handled everything I played and sounded great. Check them out, your millage may vary, but I found my studio 100's to be great so far...
