for the IL-10

I brought a demo pair of these home from Circuit City that were well broken in, but I played em night and day, face to face, out of phase for a week just to be sure.
These dont do anything really wrong, but neither do they do anything right either.
These are a " me too " speaker in my opinion.
The IL 10 is a 6.5 inch CMMD driver, crossing over at 2.5 k to a CMMD tweeter.
The cabinet seems to be pretty dead.
I tried these on many diffrent stands, with many different electronice, both Tube and solid state.
They prefer solid state.
I would not reccommend Tubes with these, the balance is so laid back that I feel Tubes would only compound this.

The best way I can describe these is Bland.
Kind of like cafeteria food !
Its edible, but not memorable.
No matter what, in a room famous with Tampa Audiophiles for its imaging, I couldnt get them to image very well.
Left to right wasnt horrible, but depth was poor, even well out from the wall.
Voice reproduction on speech was ho hum.
The tweeter is very smooth and without peaks, but doesnt appear to have much air to it.
They are a fairly easy load for the many amps I tried on them, and they do look nice.
Just for kicks, I went back to Circuit City and also paid for and took home then competing Polk RT 35i speakers.
I much preferred the Polks, they have much punchier bass, image better, and had me tappin my toes, something the IL 60 never did.
So, in short, the IL 60 is just another me too speaker.
They do use CMMD drivers.
Someone once asked Floyd Toole, head designer of Infinity, "What does CMMD stand for " ??
Floyd responded " CMMD stands for costs me miniscule dollars, EH ?
Nuff Said
I kept them for 60 days, and back they went to Circuit City , and so did the Polks.
The Polks went with semi fond memories, I didnt shed tear one for these.
Not Reccommended, you can do a lot better.

Product Weakness: Yuk, read the review
Product Strengths: You can get em cheap ??
