for the Capri
I have seen these come up for sale at one time or another and always hesitated as I could find no reviews or opinions on them and no dealer to demo. When they do go on auction, no one ever seems to bid. So it was with great trepidation that I took the plunge. I managed to get them from a local source for $1000 and was able to pick them up in person and save shipping. Even the guys that sold them claimed they never heard them!First, they are beautiful loudspeakers, mine are light cherry and finely finished. They sell themselves on looks alone.
Anyway I set them up and turned on some music...
Immediately the standout is the very sweet treble it is widely dispersed; then I noticed the upper mid range really comes alive. I was definetly missing information there before with my Energy C-8s.I cranked up the volumn a bit and the bass opened up, it is incredibly tight and well controlled and suprisingly low for small 6.5 woofers.
I continued listening for many hours and am very, very happy with their sound. The soundstage is wide and each instrument pinpointed in space with the vocals floating mostly in the exact middle.Piano and strings are especially very well reproduced, although horns stand out as well.
Most of my listening was Diana Krall ("The Look of Love") with some mixes of Loreena McKennit, and Fleetwood Mac.
Some of the speakers strengths: Wide, airy dispersion, great low, well controlled bass with no overhang. The cabinets are beautifully made and look much more expensive than a $2000 speaker.
All in all a great value for what I paid and I would think most people would be quite happy with these at full retail.Specifications:
