for the Oppo BDP-83 (basic mod)

I can't compare the sound to stock anymore since there have been so much time. Here's my story.
In Feb. of 2010 I gave Ric my Oppo to do his basic mod. When I got it plugged back in to my system, I initially noticed that it was more dynamic, etc. But I quickly found that it had horrible listening fatigue. Over the next month or so, I scrambled to change interconnects in my system, etc. since I was quite distressed initially. I did end up changing one cable from a Mapleshade Excalibur to a new Transparent Music Link. I learned that the player does take days to warm up and now I never turn it off. I have repeated the warm up process a few times to confirm.
After ~2 months, the player started to become listenable (meaning for the length of a CD). After about 3 months, I was suprised to find the sound becoming enjoyable. At first I was not sure whether I was just getting used to it. After about 4 months, the sound was definitely enjoyable and better than stock. All of Ric's descriptions of the sound seem accurate.

I thought that it was about time that I put a review here since there are no others. I would have never guessed that it could take 4 months for something to burn in. Maybe he uses silver solder and that takes a while? I don't know but I heard the change.
My main goal was to improve the sound of CDs since they were not as good as SACDs. This mod achieved that goal. In the end, I am happy with the mod.

Product Weakness: Extremely long break in time.
Product Strengths: Open, clean, dynamic sound.
