From a maker of DIY kits aimed mainly at the amateur musician, the "hi-fi" TubeHead is a DIY kit that gives you a little effects box that lets you add anywhere from no distortion to overdrive, for as much "tube sound" as you like. A good intro to kit-building and tube sound, and fun to play with. Put it in your "external processor" loop today!

Product Weakness: Have to build yer own. Not a true pre-amp with multiple inputs, etc.
Product Strengths: Decent parts quality, good sound from something so inexpensive. Can (probably) sell it on eBay for near what you paid for kit.
