for the Flavor 4

I am dumbfounded by the performance of the VH Audio Flavor 4 Power Cord. For my system, it is a hands down winner and Chris VH will not be getting this cord back on his generous return policy, either.

I ordered the cord on an impulse, really. I was satisfied with the DH Labs Power Plus PC I had been using. After going through a bunch of Cardas Cords, and a Moon Audio Blue Dragon (a fine cable, BTW, if not for my system), a LAT AC-2 , the DH had proved equal to the task of getting power from the dedicated #10 wire circuit to the amp. It sounded better than any thing else I had tried. But was there more to be found?

Enter the VH Audio Flavor 4. I ordered it full tilt. Cryo'd wire, Furutech Rhodium connectors, the works. Chris VenHaus, who is a master of both understatement and fine customer service, warned of a particularly long burn in. 200-400 hours. I didn't know if I could wait the proscribed time, but I dutifully attached the cable to my guitar amp and fed a signal through my wonderful, old KLH Model twenty-one FM radio for over a week. Most of that time I was out of the house and I ran it hard. So anyway, 200 hours finally elapsed. I hooked up the Flavor 4 to my amp.

What a great surprise. What flowed from my speakers was clarity across the frequency range, more punch and attack, and a uniform black background. I don't get into sound descriptions too well. It all sounds like effete descriptions of wine. Blackberry overtones with a subtle lavender finish and all.

The Flavor 4 had the DH beat from the first measure of music. This power cord supplies copious amounts of power in a way my amp really likes. There might be better power cords, and there might not. Having spent the last four hours running through a variety of music, This power cord exposed more detail, more soft background nuance and more decay to every one of my reference recordings. Everything sounded more present, had more content, and sounded more live.

Chris is an excellent assembler. The quality presentation of the cord is a fine compliment to its performance. I would recomment this power cable without reservation. Buy it now. Don't delay, Enjoy your systems potential. Like Chris says, "Let the music be heard..."

Product Weakness: A bit stiff. This isn't really a weakness, per se, but for someone who needs a flexible cable due to space restrictions, I would check with Chris first.
Product Strengths: Quality construction and materials. Obvious research by Chris into what works. And kick ass musicality. Great customer service. Chris is first rate.
