for the M200

The Outlaw M200 monoblock amplifier is another superb product from the folks at Outlaw. It requires only a single rack space (17"x11"x2") and weighs 18lbs. The M200 is rated at 200 watts continuous output into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms with a signal-to-noise ratio of 112 dB, and an input impedance of > 10K ohms. Power is controlled by a master switch on the back of the amplifier with available low voltage DC control or a "music" mode which turns on the unit when a signal is present and shuts it down after about 15 minutes without input. A standard RCA input jack and IEC grounded plug receptacle (a decent cord is included) are also present on the back panel. Installation and operation are well described in the thorough owner's manual which is available at the Outlaw website.

In use the M200 is exactly what an amplifier should be - quiet and transparent. The output is more than most will need and it has no problem driving any reasonable load. It drives my Tumult subwoofers (15" 4 ohm drivers) without complaint and brings out the best in my Magnepan MG-1.6 speakers. There are no turn-on or turn-off thumps or noises, the toroidal transformer is very quiet, and it produces little heat, even when driven hard. The M200 will give many much more expensive amplifiers a real run for the money. Highly recommended.

Product Weakness: None
Product Strengths: Astronomical value. Transparent and quiet operation. Runs cool.
