for the Millenium

I always assumed that woofer amps didn't have to be anything special until I started using the PPI Pro 8. While its range is limited (it really can't produce low bass) within its range it is the most transparent woofer I've ever heard. You KNOW what kind of amp is pushing this woofer because it tells you. My system is bi-amped, there is no hiding from the PPIs.

I purchased the Millenium to power my Manger, but the Millenium is powering the PPIs because does such a good job. The amp is deceptively powerful. This is NOT your average 75wpc amp; it outperforms most 300wpc amps. As built, it also outweighs many of them as well (approx 80 lbs). I tried a number of 300 watt amps with my woofers, all of which failed because they lacked control, couldn't power my woofers which are current hungry, or lacked detail. This amp gets more out of my woofers than any amp I tried. I'm going to put the Millenium on my Mangers someday, but first I have to find an amp which can handle my woofers or build a new speaker.

The sound is very clean and articulate. It is more articulate than the Borbely Servo-50, but not as smooth sounding. This amp would be a good choice if you are looking for a SS amp which is very accurate without being harsh. It would also be an excellent choice for speakers which present difficult loads as the amp is stable into less than 1 ohm.

Product Weakness: You have to build it.
Product Strengths: Clean, accurate and powerful. It will make you re-think how much power you really need.
