Is he still active in audio? I searched on the net for him a few years ago, and the most recent hit I found was for a paper he had written that was on the Anstendig site, here:

The Anstendig papers are a fun and challenging read - not difficult, just challenging to our preconceptions, whether we agree with the points of view or not. One paper that hit home for me is on the mono/stereo debate:

Back to Mitch Cotter. I remember seeing his gear in a couple of local audio stores, and I loved the concept. The different functions of the electronics were separated into different modules, each housed in its own box, such as the one at the start of this thread (nice score, Stefano). Lots of interconnects, but much flexibility. He also offered a module that was supposed to give a system a tubelike sound. These came out at the same time as his turntable isolation base/Technics turntable, the first isolation base I remember. One thing that created a lot of buzz throughout the audio world at the time was the speaker system he used to demo his devices. He used DCM Timewindows with Decca ribbon tweeters sitting on top, bypassing the DCM'S tweeters. This made a lightweight, very transportable system for shows. The DCMs are of course a fun but very colored speaker, but fans forgive their faults. I'm not sure whether the ribbon tweeters smoothed out the response, but they sure must have made the speaker much more transparent. There was a run on the market for Decca ribbons after this. Couldn't find them in stock anywhere for a while, then they disappeared completely. From what I remember, Mitch was also the designer of the first AR turntables. An original thinker with some great products, well before their time. I would like to see a mind like his in consumer audio again. I would think Cotter's gear would be fun to snag, though it almost never seems to pop up anywhere. People don't seem to let loose of it.
