I'm not the one to answer this as I've never heard the 20.1's. Perhaps those who have had both large planars/ribbons and ESL's can comment.That being said, the 20.1 being a PP design, is the flagship of planar designs and a world class act. Given proper room (perhaps the most impactful parameter in our system chain and the one we typically have the least control of) size and amplification, I don't think any of us would scoff at a gift opportunity to own them.
With the amplification budget for 20.1's, I'd be curious though to what heights the Wings could be brought to - they are that transparent! I doubt my 30W PP amp would do justice to the 20.1's! And therein is the catch: system synergies will dictate what is required to match the speakers in question.
Either done well will bring joy to the listener. Absolutes rarely avail themselves - and this is particularly true in audio.
