I guess it depends on which side of the fence you're sitting on.
Many Southerner's here in the U.S. back in the 60's undoubtedly considered MLK a 'clown' when he was shown on the nightly news getting showered with that good ole' Southern spit and bricks.
Same with that Monk over in Viet Nam that set himself on fire..
I'm sure there are still folks left who consider them clowns as well.
