Aside form what's grown around their respective teachings and that Buddha's life was like a candle flame while JC's was more a bolt of lightning, there are many similarities in their stories.
The challenge to authority, their confrontation with various temptations and the anthropomorphized demonic entity of their time and place, a period of solitude/meditation and many of the core teachings about how we should behave with/towards one another and ourselves."You can safely assume you have created God in your own image when he hates all the same people you do."
