"the only true revolution in man's history" - Respectfully Disagree

I think the mission of Jesus during his time was truly revolutionary. Granted, perhaps it is a different kind of freedom than what those of a more political persuasion might imagine, but there are many similarities between what Jesus sought to accomplish in comparison to the founding fathers. Both had a clear and identifiable oppressor, both sought what I feel are universal truths, both commanded laws based on those aforementioned truths, both stood up to what most of us would consider overwhelming odds and both paid for the freedom they sought with their blood. Both emphasised the value of the individual, especially during times when the general attitude of the masses is that you are born, you suffer, you are a plaything of the powerful, and then you die.

Also to note, I find it to be quite revealing that both set benchmarks regarding the separation of church and state. Huh? When did Jesus teach this, you might ask?

"Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's" I wish Christians and non-Christians understood that better than they do these days.

Also, while it may not be extraordinary that tax collectors would be seen in a negative light in each respective revolution, one cannot ignore how huge a part tax collectors played in both.

Interestingly enough, after the revolutions of Christianity and America had been won and established, great debates and hysterical arguments would arise due to interpretation of the laws set forth by each revolutions' champion(s). Both revolutions would fall into the hands of men looking to advance their own power for powers sake, and in so doing take massive amounts of PR damage from the public. Also, both are constantly being announced to be dead or dying, typically by their more consistent detractors.

Also, I feel that both have been unique insofar as how both revolutions have been perpetuated.....however strong they may appear, they have always maintained a certain fragility, forever teetering on the brink of great success or failure and appearing to go either way in the blink of an eye. During the greatest victories, both revolutions have been wounded, and in the darkest defeat of each, a miraculous silver lining appeared.... almost in a way to suggest that we are never as well or poor off as we think we are.

And I guess that's how life is when you think of it. And really, that's how we are. Perhaps that is why these two revolutions have so many who identify with them......it's THE tightrope walk of the ages.
