"W" is not longer a fit topic of conversation. Love him or hate him, he's a lame duck.
McCain is already trying to distance himself from "W". His energy policy speech today did much to accomplish this. However, it rankled common sense conservatives like me, who think the green energy initiative is a fantasy we simply cannot indulge in. As I have said repeatedly here, we need US sourced energy, and we need it NOW -- coal, nuclear, off-shore oil, wind, solar ... anything and everything! McCain threw in his lot with the greenie weenies today.
Though it has elicited the contempt of some of my interlocutors here, I think the race is wide open. In fact, I think Her Hillariousness could get the nomination, still. I think Gore is in play as well. There's been a trickle of articles and retrospectives in the press about him lately, mostly to resucistate his stature. We'll see. How's the song go?:
"Well it's a long, long time, from May to November ..."
Indeed! Especially after the W. Virgina results, the possibility of a deadlocked convention continues to grow -- never mind what the pundits and political pointy heads are saying. Even now, the numbers just don't add up for either candidate.
