not only in the hangar business but they seem to follow the same pattern elsewhere. In tube sockets, they basically undercut all the Japanese and American makers, essentially forcing them out of business with their cheap prices. As soon as majority of the competition was eliminated, prices went up. To be sure there are some better made tube sockets, and they advertise such niceties as silver and gold plated contacts ( a joke from the point of electrolytic erosion), but basically the NOS American and Japanese stock simply uses superior metal which retains its tension much better.
Ever notice the exceedingly poor quality of rubber bands these days, or even windshield wiper blades: they seem to be all made in China. Problem is there are no alternatives.
