A good indicator is the US balance of payments. We certainly owe a lot.
And despite the fact that American automobiles remain a model of efficiency in their manufacture, Toyota which has a significant higher labor rate is rapidly becoming number 1 just a hair behind GM and how come all the rich seem to desire Mercedes and Rolls Royce which use a lot more labor to assemble.
When the Chinese who base their currency on the value of the dollar, and are now starting to demand payments in Euros, again that says something about the state of the US economy.
