Thanks for the kind words.
Ivan, I think Her Hillariousness is holding on for the win, not for a VP slot. We'll see what happens if she is able to seat the Florida and Michigan delegations ... we'll see what happens if any other skeletons come out of Obama's closet ... Wright, Ayers, Rezko having already made appearances. We'll see if HH can make hay out of his unwillingness to debate her at this point. It would be almost suicidal, I think, for the Dems to deny the first legitimate "African American Presidential Candidate" their nomination on a technicality, or by reversing previous rulings on the seating of delegation. If Obama were NOT African American, I am almost certain that Gore would now be the presumptive nominee.
But Obama has faltered in handling the Wright situation, and in the "bitter small town bigots" remarks to the San Franciso fund raisers. One more mis-step and we the Dems will be facing a deadlocked convention, or one would THINK they would. I have been astonished at how major Democrat heavyweights continue to put their weight behind Obama, even as he has wobbled in recent weeks. Why did McGovern have to speak out. Why did Paul G. Girk have to desert Her Hillariousness to endorse Obama. Even Feinstein is covering her back by tacitly suggesting HH get out of the race.
Frankly, for all the gleeful ridicule in my original post (I DO detest the Clintons, and ESPECIALLY Her Hillariuosness), my sense is that she would stand a better chance of beating McCain than Obama would at this point.
