If we do NOT do everything we can to develope every kind of energy available to us, we, and much of the world, is going to be for some very rough sledding in the coming decades. Our elderly will suffer because our economy will tank, our children will suffer under the burdens of a sputtering economy and the need to support the entitlements promised to the elderly, our deficits will become unmanageable, because taming them REQUIRES our economy to keep growing ... it will be a disaster! And it will all be in the name of false alarms about runaway "global warming."
I am confident about our future. I think science will solve our energy problems. But we cannot snap our fingers, as Her Hillariousness would have us beleive, an create a giant green energy industry. We will get there. But we are going to need a heck of a lot of conventional energy before we do. It may take us 50 years. And if we don't get serious about clean coal, off-shore drilling, nuclear, wind, solar, ocean currents ... we are going to be burning our McMansions to heat the country! No, check that: We are going to be bought and sold: bought by the Arabs and sold to the Chinese.
I know I have been redundant on this topic. But I think a lot of people have allowed their utopian visions to cloud their vision ... and their ideals for the perfect world preclude what's best for us all in the meantime.
