There is another factor to consider in the price or availability of oil. That is the supply of drilling equipment. While the Saudis enjoy supplies that are close to surface, not every deposit in every country is so accessible.
Recently, Brazil announced the location of a major field off their coast.Profit may motivate the oil companies to install the needed wells but the equipment won't be arriving via overnight express mail.
That's the bummer of the situation. Even someone to the political left of Atilla the Hun, such as myself, can appreciate the desirability of competition in the marketplace.
