Girls calling each other "Dude"

The first I heard of this was in the movie "Juno." Just now, in the elevator of my building, a 20-something women was talking to a female friend of hers on the cellphone, and said, "Dude, Nordstrom's will take anything back." While I understand the need for a gender neutral pronoun, in the meantime I wish the ladies would find their own word!!
